2021 VIRTUAL WORKSHOP – Digital Film & Media
Digital Film & Media is an intensive, week-long virtual workshop that will open up new vistas for visual storytelling. Classes will focus on opportunities to tell stories through a visual medium. Students will write, produce, direct, and edit a short film in a genre of their choice, using either their smart phone or other personal digital camera. With the option to produce a web series (WebTV) or submit a short student film to the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF), students will learn the skills of a writer, producer, director, cinematographer, editor, and actor which will give them the tools to step-up to a professional experience.
Students will have approximately 29 hours of class time per workshop week. Classes will focus on opportunities to tell stories through a visual medium. Students will write, produce, direct, and edit a short film in a genre of their choice, using either their smart phone or other personal digital camera. They will also have the option of creating a pilot for a web series. Student films will be submitted to the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) for competition. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with others in the production of their film, in addition to on-on-one faculty instruction. Appropriate breaks will be taken between classes for refreshments and relaxation. Students will collaborate with one another, including meet-ups to work on writing and editing, and other assignments. A Work-in-Progress showing of their film will be presented during the Saturday Session to family and friends.
New knowledge, new skills, important networking, and new friends. Faculty mentors who will write appropriate recommendations when requested. Students will make a film of their choice of genre and will have the opportunity to submit their film to FLIFF for judging.
