Bio
Ed Monaghan's study of the Martial Arts encompasses over 35 years of training in a variety of fighting systems. His instruction, based upon an in-depth analysis of different forms of combative movement, is designed to help the performer develop a sense of physical awareness that goes far beyond learning the basics of stage combat taught in most theater programs. This training allows the actor to foster the mind-body connection and creates a broader pallet for the performer to draw upon. Ed holds 7 black belts or equivalent rank and instructor's certification in multiple Martial Arts including Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai, Savate, Kung Fu, Qigong, Escrima and Karate. Ed has fought in a variety of categories including Kickboxing, Karate and "No Rules" competitions. As an instructor and pre-production fight trainer he has worked with a variety of actors and celebrities including, Val Kilmer and Chris O'Donnell for "Batman Forever, " John Malkovitch, Randy Quaid, Julie Ann Moore, and Mira Sorvino, among many others. As an actor Ed has appeared in lead roles in several feature length films, as a guest star in several series and held a lead role in a nighttime series, which ran in syndication for two seasons.
