Bio
Ellen Isom has had a versatile career in dance since graduating with her B.A. from Webster University. She has danced in modern companies in both Chicago and St. Louis. She was a founding member of Webster Dance Theatre. Ellen has performed as a dancer and singer aboard Royal Viking and Royal Cruise Lines where she also served as dance captain and assistant choreographer. Ellen is a proud member of Actors' Equity and has performed in musical theatre venues regionally in the United States including the Goodman in Chicago and Stages St. Louis. Favorite roles include Maggie Anderson in Brigadoon, Fruma Sarah in Fiddler On the Roof, Vivien Della Hoya in Promises, Promises, Woodstock in Snoopy. Additionally, Ellen has served as dance captain for over 20 productions including Crazy For You, Cabaret, Hello Dolly, Music Man, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Ellen has choreographed for a variety of theatres in the St. Louis area including Stages St. Louis, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, New Jewish Theatre and Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre. She is the resident choreographer for the Midwest Theatre Auditions. She teaches ballet, musical theatre, tap, and jazz , as well as creative moment. At Webster University, Ellen has choreographed many musicals for the Conservatory including Lucky Stiff, Nine, Rodgers and Hart: A Celebration, Bye Bye Birdie, No No Nannette, Violet , Ruthless-The Musical, and Cabaret. Ellen is an adjunct faculty member serving the theatre and dance departments. She presently teaches jazz and both beginning and intermediate ballet which she finds particularly rewarding.
