US Performing Arts-An investment in your future!
The focus in the media for several years has been on the “millenials” difficult path to college. Statistics
of staggering numbers of applicants and a downturn in the economy leading to university cutbacks has led to forecasts that are at best confusing and at worst deterring. The statistics become even more daunting for performing arts and media students. Today a student needs to understand the process and to position themselves carefully and wisely for their application to college. To that end, attending a US Performing Arts workshop is an investment in your future.
It is important to find the school with the program that “fits” you and to hone your craft so that it is competitive with other students applying. US Performing Arts affords you that opportunity. It gives you the chance to visit colleges and work with their faculty. You will get to know them and they will get to know you. You can talk about your goals and your future and hear about their departments while you discover their teaching style and when you experience our network of excellent programs you have a great comparison yardstick. This is just one of the things that makes our summer programs different than all others.
Another important thing that makes US Performing Arts different from other summer programs is clearly in our faculty and our mission, “representing the best in performing arts and media education.” Our programs are completely faculty driven. There are no students teaching in any of our workshops although sometimes graduate students will assist the faculty-but not as a teacher. Our faculty is college professors who are actively engaged professionally and directly represent their college department, or they are Broadway and Hollywood professionals. Under the guidance of these qualified, dedicated, and enthusiastic professors and professionals, alongside like-minded peers, you will have an unforgettable, intensive, even life-changing experience.
In staying true to our mission statement, we select our partners very carefully. And we have THE best partners. Each program is selected for its depth of education in the craft, dynamic faculty and how it fits in to help us create a network of educational diversity that will benefit you. Keeping in mind that you come with your own set of criteria, experience and goals, and that there is a perfect fit somewhere for you, we will enjoy watching your progress in discovering your own path to the arts. The letters we receive from our alumni and parents are a testimony to that as is the success of our students in their college acceptances and professional work.
Students come to our summer programs in several categories; those who know (or think they know) exactly what they want to do with their lives and therefore their training, and like a train on a track, nothing will deter them; those who have no idea what direction or focus they will take but are pretty sure they want to be in the arts somewhere and would like some guidance; those who feel they will go on to pursue some degree in college other than the arts but are looking to stay connected. All tend to have the same summer goal: to improve their craft and figure out how to achieve their next step.
Each year as USPA adds new sites and workshops we think carefully about that mission statement and how its application will benefit you. We look for schools in geographic areas whose programs are perhaps less known but whose level of excellence will promote and demand growth. We look for schools that meet your artistic needs. We partner with and represent programs that are 4 year BA degree programs and programs that are BFA driven and for those that are not college-bound, programs that offer the highest level of professional conservatory training.
Invest in your future this summer and start the process towards becoming a part of the next generation of artists.
