US Performing Arts invites you to visit the Great White Way as you join Broadway artists and directors, and enthusiastic musical theater students in a 6-day intensive training academy in the heart of Manhattan's Broadway Theater District. This premiere program offers daily workshops in the three essential components of musical theater - acting, singing, and dancing. Curriculum includes improvisation, scene study, vocal instruction, audition techniques, and dance workshops for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Tuition includes a ticket to a Broadway performance. This is a fantastic program to coincide with a family vacation and leaves most evenings free to spend together in the Big Apple.

Parents are invited to attend the orientation on the first day, any schedule changes will be given out at this time.

A letter of recommendation from a teacher is required prior to the beginning of camp. Enrollment for this program is limited.

Students check-in 9am on the first day of camp,or 2pm the day befoe camp begins.
Flights should arrive into LaGuardia or JFK on the day before camp begins before 2pm.
Flights should depart from LaGuardia or JFK on the last day of camp after 630pm.
Airport transportation is available to and from LaGuardia for $30 each way,
or JFK for $50 each way,
or Port Authority bus station for $25 each way,
or Penn Station for $25 each way.

Program Directors

Fred Haug, Director
Fred Haug is currently with NBC Universal Cable and the Project Director of Bravo Television's new television arts campaign, Bravo On The Set , Fred is originally from Sacramento, CA and is truly passionate about arts education. Previous theater credits include Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, Annie Get Your Gun with Cathy Rigby, Sky in Guys and Dolls , Gad in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat , Simon in Big River , as well as La Cage Aux Folles and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at the South Bay Civic Light Opera. Additionally, Fred is a professional figure skater and has toured the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Russia with the Ice Capades, Nutcracker on Ice , and various other ice shows.

Faculty

Denton Tarver
Denton has been performing and teaching in New York for the past ten years. Performance credits include Grease! At the O'Neill, Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden, Beowulf at the Irish Rep, national tour of Copacabana and the International tour of West Side Story, in addition to many regional credits.

Justin Greer, Program Director
Currently in pre-production for Shrek, the musical, was recently nominated by the BATCC for Best Leading Actor for his portrayal of the title character in the northern California premiere of Bat Boy: The Musical. Broadway: Urban Cowboy, Seussical the Musical, Annie Get Your Gun. Justin's theatre education company is called Moveable Arts and can be found on the web at www.moveablearts.org.

Elmore James, Program Director
His Broadway credits include: Jim in Big River, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well... , Your Arms too Short to Box with God with Patti LaBelle and Al Green (also recorded with Patti LaBelle), and the original cast of Beauty and the Beast. Most recently Mr. James shared the stage with Patti LuPone in the Kennedy Center's production of Regina and with Reba McEntire in the Carnegie Hall concert version of South Pacific. Mr. James studied opera at The Juilliard School and made his professional opera debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni in the famous Peter Sellars production. Additionally, Elmore has sung as a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera House, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and has sung for many US Presidents, and European royalty. Most recently Mr. James performed in the Swedish premiere of the Broadway hit, The Full Monty. Directing credits from Broadway to international, from Shakespeare to Andrew Lloyd Webber. When Elmore has the time, he lends his teaching talents to New York University, Mercy College, Iona, SUNY Purchase and the School of Performing Arts.

Ray Roderick, Program Director
Was associate director of Madison Square Garden's A Christmas Carol (director Mike Ockrent) and The Music Man Broadway revival (director Susan Stroman). He subsequently directed the North American tour. Off Broadway, director/choreographer: The Ark, co-writer/director: The Prince And The Pauper, I Love New York (Bistro Award, Best Musical Review 1999). Regionally: I Love A Piano (Carbonell nomination, Best Choreography), A Christmas Survival Guide, I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change (Denver's longest running show), Heaven Help Us! (Carbonell nomination, Best New Work) Are We There Yet?, Saturday Night At Grossinger's and Coming To America. Ray was the founding Artistic Director of Tri-State Center for the Arts. For the past six years, he has been creative director Tennis Association's US Open. He is the director of Believe, the all new Shamu show at SeaWorld in San Diego. With collaborator James Hindman, he has formed Miracle or 2 Productions, Inc. (Miracleor2.com) which is involved in developing new musicals. They are currently creating a new musical review for Busch Gardens in Tampa. He is married to actress Karyn Quackenbush and is the proud father of high school freshman Jamie Roderick.

NDG logo NDG Studios is on the list for "great NYC rehearsal spaces". Located at 305 West 38th Street at Eighth Avenue, NDG is the space for the entire arts community including the casts of Chicago, The Producers, and Phantom of the Opera. Performing artists including Chita Rivera, Bebe Neuwirth and Susan Stroman rehearse their shows at NDG. These beautiful studios will be your week's workspace for your acting, singing and dancing. Not only will you feel inspired by your faculty and fellow students but you will have the added bonus of "rubbing elbows" with current Broadway stars as you all come and go in the elevators, lounges and studios.
